Established in 1960
Aeronáutica de Cervera was established in 1960 by José Luis Cervera, who had a dream to fly, and build airplanes. Coming from a rather wealthy family, he was able to get enough financial backing to make his dream of building airplanes come true. In 1965, after five years of operations, Aeronáutica de Cervera launched their first model, the España, which was the world's first private jet. Eventually, the company expanded into longer range aircraft, creating the rather successful Cervera Matador.
In the 90's Cervera attempted a move to commercial aviation, something of which the company had never attempted before. The success wasn't massive, with only 400 CE series airframes built. It was decided the company would stick to corporate aircraft. Sadly, José passed in April of 1998, yet his legacy still lives on not only through the company he so proudly ran, but in every airplane that is built to this day as well. Today, Cervera is among one of the most successful corporate aviation manufacturers in the world, with 6 different airframe types available as of February, 2019. |
